Open Kitchen in Charlotte

Visiting Charlotte and a friend recommended Open Kitchen. Food was amazingly good and service was fantastic! I highly recommend trying this place! Next visit to Charlotte I will definitely be back to Open Kitchen!

We ate here with friends who are frequent visitors to this friendly, home-style, and very welcoming restaurant. This was my first visit and they were right! Food was wonderful. I had the Chicken parmigiana and it was delicious. We also had the tiramisu, which was amazing. This is definitely worth coming back to, over and over again to check out the rest of their offerings.

It was fantastic!! I hadn't been there since 1979 and my lady friend hadn't been there since about 1986 or so. But great food and atmosphere!

Yummy squared ! Reminded me of a place I worked while going to college. Same great sauce, same great over all quality. You gotta try it !

The Absolute BEST restaurant I have ate at in Charlotte. I had the eggplant parm with a salad. Their dressings are all home made. The Parm had a Greek twist which was delightful. Loved it. Took half the parm and 2 cannolis to go. Portions are big. Everyone was warm and friendly and best of all knowledgeable about their menu. I was also really surprised by how inexpensive it was. Loved Loved Loved it.

The restaurant is clean, the staff all friendly, and the food very tasty. Those in our party each had a different selection. Everyone was pleased with the flavor and size of the portions.

You’ve got to hand it to a place that can stay the course for almost 70 years. The problem is that I’ve been conditioned (spoiled) to expect fresher ingredients and more interesting flavors. Leave those snooty expectations at home and head to Open Kitchen for a festival of ground meat and 1950’s comfort. Prompt service, rich sauces, fun decor... plus the obligatory Sinatra playing... make this an old fashioned pleasure.

Best Italian food in Charlotte. Beth is an amazing waitress. Amazing blue cheese dressing, and chicken Barcelona is great! Wears masks and practices covid safe sanitation practices.

Everything is good. We moved here from Chicago and this is our go-to spot when we want Italian food.

Awesome!!!! My husband and I ordered takeout this evening (baked ziti & lasagne parmigiana) and both dishes were delicious and seasoned to perfection.

Great food. Love this place. Walked in recently to dine in ( it was open for dine in) and the owner screamed that I needed a mask. In a restaraunt where you need to access your mouth to consume the product. I will never return and will deter others. Never felt so disrespected by a small business owner who I support.Show your loyal customers respect.

First time I ate there but it was Great! This lasagna parmigiana was Awesome!

The food was good. However, I hated sitting beside a business station. I don't understand why a bussing station. Would be near tables with people eating! Then, the cob webs hanging from the light and dust coating the wood trim distracted from the meal. Old restaurant that needs updating to stay relevant. I wonder how their score is a 99?

Great history in Charlotte. Food is OK. Better Italian can be found in Charlotte. Food very heavy with cheese and greasy. It's just OK.

Been getting food from this places for years and it never disappoints. All around solid pizza but my go to is the chicken parmigiana, large portions!

The food was absolutely horrible; it had no flavor at all. I Had the eggplant parmigiana, and it was 2 thin strips of eggplant under a pile of greasy ground beef; the whole thing was covered in so much mozzarella I couldn't eat a bite without a massive string of cheese refusing to separate from the plate. Where's the PARMESAN? Why is there mozzarella on this?The pasta that came with it was overcooked and covered in what could only be described as canned vegetable sauce. There was liquid running out of the sauce and it had no flavor.I could have made better "genuine" Italian food myself for a fraction of the cost. 0/10 would not recommend.

I always enjoy my Open Kitchen experience. I have been going since I was a very little girl. Never disappointed!

This is my first time there in forever but the food was high quality, authentic, and the wait staff was incredible. Can hardly wait to have a sitdown meal there.

Haven’t been to the Open Kitchen in a LONG time! My parents are new in the Charlotte area. We wanted to take them to a Charlotte staple. They loved the atmosphere. Our service was fantastic and the food amazing. Drinks and bread were out quickly. Salad was very fresh and as soon as we were done with our salads the food came out fresh and hot! Everything about the evening was excellent. We will be headed back soon!

Hate to give one star, was going 2 try this restaurant for the first time and got the shock up our life. Beware if you are BLACK this is not the restaurant for you. A group of five, three adults and two children. Watch as a couple before our group was greeted with a warm welcome. We was next, and there was no hello or anything. Was only ask "if this is all of yall?"and the guy walk off to table. Never informing us of our table was ready just put the menu down and walked away. We was standing at the front when he pointed to the table it over there. We was shocked! We walk right out of the establishment. Will not spend our money in a place like this. We was the only black people in the restaurant.

My favorite Italian restaurant. We have been patronizing the Open Kitchen since 1970. My favorite dish is ravioli parmigiana! Many other delicious dishes. Excellent service. Casual dining.

The whole world is in a crazy pandemic. Thank God this restaurant has not change their ways of preparing great food. Pizza and chicken alfredo were both delicious and the iced tea. They must have super ovens in the back because our food was a five minute wait. The maitre d she was so nice and polite 5 ✨. It's a good thing when the service match the food. When things get better, I'm looking forward to sitting down in the enjoying the whole aviance.

The food was pretty good I actually expected better hearing about how great the food is. The customer service wasn't good. Just took my order, don't remember being greeted when I entered as there were only three other customers. Which had already been waited on. I'm BIG on customer service even if the food isn't the best.

Not a terrible place, nothing special. If you like old school Italian home cooked meals then this is the place for you.

Lunch special was great, service was prompt. The only thing that caught us was the soda was $2 extra cause the meal came with tea or coffee. Other than that, great experience and great food!

In Charlotte for a business trip. Good food and service.

I have been here several times. This place has really good food, especially if you like Italian. My parents frequently go out of their way to eat here. The restroom is small and could use an update, but the food is delicious. Wait staff is usually friendly. They have a great ministrone soup and bread before the meals are brought to the table. The inside has interesting decor and gives a lot to talk about while waiting for the food.

Definitely authentic Italian food. They say they are Italian/Greek but I only saw one Greek item. I had the Braciole which was quite good. My friend had pizza which was average.

For almost 50 years, I've enjoyed the ambience and delicious Italian food at this iconic Charlotte restaurant. Another great meal to add to decades of memories.

We had our doubts when we saw the exterior, but this turned out to be a pleasant experience. The place had good atmosphere; the service was fast. I enjoyed my pizza. Would recommend.

Amazing authentic Italian cuisine. Worth fighting Charlotte traffic and searching for a parking spot. The only question is what to order....So delicious!

I decided to treat my family to a special meal so we place our order. Upon returning home with said order discovered it was wrong. Called the restaurant and asked for a replacement order. Returned the wrong food only to have them place some cheese on top and hit it with some lukewarm heat. Now what I have is a sloppy mess with puddles of water. It takes a long time to earn a longtime customer and only one minute to lose one. There where so many wrongs about this experience the the one that stands out is they had no problem taking a bag that had left their property back into the building and then sending same food back out. In this time of covid-19 I do NOT want to visit a restaurant that shows no respect for common rules of safty and concern for the health of its customers.

A Charlotte Landmark and Treasure! If you want more authentic Italian Cuisine, stop by here! I would recommend calling for reservations and/or check Google Guides for busy times.

The food was good but I didn't like the fact that I was not told that a salad was NOT part of my meal and now I'm wondering why I have a extra fee on my bill and I didn't like the paper straws. I went for a romantic date with my husband. Next time I will pick another place it wasn't a romantic setup as I hoped it would be.
